Meet the Team behind the Easter show

Geoffrey Thorpe
Robot Rumble Owner and Team Leader
My name is Geoffrey and I run the Robot Wars Easter event along with a great team of people.
I started out as a promoter but once i bought the Trademark 'Robot Wars' we started to aim higher and try to bring the show back to the publics attention
I originally got involved by finding the venues and alerting local people to the event. The Roboteers grew and continued to come from across Europe to take part in the battles that raged. Fighting robots have also become an educational tool and a major factor in encouraging students to take engineering seriously and many schools, colleges and universities are involved in building and competing with robots. The roboteers now have league tables and a huge following of ardent supporters who keep the robots battling against each other for our entertainment and the Roboteers satisfaction. One day we hope to get the show back on TV and are working towards that goal, in the meantime meet the team............
Alexis Hawley-Thomas
Team Rumble Mascot
My name is Alexis and I am the mascot, product tester and proof reader for the show, I also keep everyone sane and happy. I must be the lucky charm for the show as I was born on the same day as the sat show 2008. If you see me at any show come and say hello! Geoffreys grandaughter Alexis was born on the first day of Robot Wars 2009:
Rachel Thorpe
Robot Rumble Admin
I am the daughter of Geoff Thorpe and I have been with robot rumble really from the beginning, I helped out when my dad was doing the commentary doing things from running here and there to keeping an eye on sound levels.
Now he has taken Robot Wars to the next level my role within the company has gone to the next level as well. I am the administrator for the company and co-partner when it comes the finances, but that’s not all, as well as Donna I have to keep my dad in check, because he gets like a little kid when it comes to robots and whenever he is around them he is like a bull in a china shop, ha ha.
I am really grateful for my dad giving me all the opportunities he has given me, because as a child we used to sit in front of the telly and watch the show and he even took me to see a show being filmed, and that’s where I saw the best fight ever Bigger Brother vs. Hipnodisc, and now I get to meet all the stars who make the robots and they are a really good laugh.
I hope you all enjoy the show we produce as much as we loved to make the show for you.
Hope to see you all there

William Hawley-Thomas
Technical advisor
My name is Will, and my partner is Rachel. She kind of roped me into robots, by asking if I would like to control a spotlight on the show 2 years ago.
I have a first and a national diploma in media, specialising in visual images. Now I am the head of design and graphics for the show.
I am the one with all the ideas from the small things like the A5 leaflets to the big things like the banners (except 2009 which Donna designed), and I was the one who came up with the “Rumblebee” name, its simple really the company is called robot rumble and it looks like a bumble bee. So there you have the name, not much to me really, but I have told you all that I can for now, so have fun and see you all there.

Donna Wilby
Robot Rumble admin assistant and graphic designer
This is my first full year helping with the Robot Wars™ show although I joined in just before the last show at Colchester.
I love making graphics and playing with images, I try to keep the website updated and keep you informed through the blog and website.
I designed the website and graphics including the new Robot Wars™ logo. I have learned a lot about moving from web design to print and love the opportunity to do so.
Going along with Geoff and Racheal and making sure we have all the information to provide you with a fantastic show has taught me a lot about promotional work but my first love will always be the web and designing.
Give me an idea and an event and I will play with a design until it says exactly what you want it to.
But as a tool the web is my home and I spend many hours surfing to make sure we are as well known as we can be and you have all the information you might want.
